You can grow your own vegetable and protein
We bought a rural property in Spring of 2018, completely moved in 2019, and became debt free. One of the main reasons we left Redmond was that the property we had was too shady, not great for vegetable growth. Our initial goals were to look for a property of 5 ac of land, ended up owning 30, with a simple house. We started with a simple garden.
Here is the 2019 view, built on the site of a chicken coop of the original owners.
By fall of 2021, the garden was much expanded with a chicken coop + 300 sq ft chicken run on the right. We were adding a 38×15 ft large raised bed on the bottom left side.
Here is view of Spring 2022. The large raised bed was completely and we cleaned up lots of vegetation for expansion.
Major expansion by fall of 2022 of the vegetable garden. We also added an 8 × 40 ft grape trellis. Notice we have geese on the right side.
Here is the view this month:
The 38×15 raised bed is now our squash garden. Grapes are climbing up. The raised beds in the main vegetable garden have been upgraded, more trellis have been added, two new 20 ft long metal raised beds have been added this year, we’ve expanded metal roofing for chicken run, and added fencing.
A big tree was cut down this Spring. The area cleaned up will be for vegetable garden expansion (to north side) and our orchard.
We could be spending more money in the end, but we enjoy the freedom, choice and such lifestyle.
